Year 2 News – Term 2, Week 4

We have had such a fun and exciting week in Year 2!

We introduced our new key text; The Princess and the Pea by Lauren Child. The children have enjoyed getting the grips with the language and vocabulary used in the book and have practised mirroring the text in their own writing.

In maths, we have continued working on multiplication and have been using our knowledge of the 2, 5 and 10 times tables to solve problems. The children have also been representing multiplication problems as arrays in order to solve them more easily.

We are delighted to be attending a Shine Sports dodgeball tournament with a team of Year 2 children next week. This week, each class enjoyed a dodgeball session with a coach from Shine in order to have a practise and learn the rules. The teachers really enjoyed watching the children in action and we were so impressed with the fantastic team work and sportsmanship. We have such enthusiastic and kind children in Year 2!

On Thursday afternoon we were busy making puppets for our parent project. This children had such a lovely time sewing and decorating the puppets and we are so grateful to all the wonderful adults who joined us. We hope that they had fun too! The children came up with such original ways to decorate their puppets and had lots of fun playing with them too.
