Year 1 News- Term 2, Week 6

This week in year one we have been recapping our sounds and keywords learnt so far- the children have been impressing their teachers with the many sounds and words they have been working so hard on in school and at home, thank you for your continued support with these.

In our English sessions we have written a letter to Father Christmas, enquiring about the goings on in his workshop, the wellbeing of his reindeers and elves, using our questions and remembering our question marks, writing sentences to inform him of our festive plans including capital letters and full stops and have written detailed Christmas lists of all the things we should wish for!

In Maths this week we have looked at 2d shape, focusing particularly on triangles to design and make our Christmas cards.

In PSHE we have been thinking again about ways in which we can be a special friend and ways to apply this with our school friends in the classroom and the playground.

In RE we have been learning about the many different ways to celebrate Christmas around the world and recalling our knowledge around the birth of Muhammed.

We enjoyed watching the Reception Nativity and have been practicing our songs for the Carol Service next week (Year 1 have the special part of singing ‘little donkey’ to the rest of Henleaze Infants and the grown-ups if there is any opportunities for extra rehearsal at home!)

We wish you a wonderful weekend and look forward to celebrating our last school week with the children next week with lots of festive activities planned.
