Reception – Term 3, Week 5

Noticeboard

  • If your child completes one of the sides of their bookmark, please alert your child’s class teacher.
  • Children need to bring their book bag into school every day. If they do not have it on a Monday, they will not be able to have a new reading book.
  • We would like you to support your child to hold their pencil correctly when they are using them at home. Children should be using a tripod grip. Click here to see a BBC Bitesize video about how to hold a pencil.
  • Please do not allow your child to play with the resources that are on the Reception patio in the morning. These have been carefully positioned and are there to support your child’s learning during the school day.

Celebrations

This week, the children have loved using the apparatus during their PE lessons. They have also made some amazing creations outside using the large construction.

The children have loved using paints and oil pastels to create landscapes. We looked at landscapes painted by Vincent van Gogh. They have been looking at familiar landscapes, such as the school grounds, the downs and the harbourside.

Tapestry – Observation request

The focus this week is Maths. You have two choices this week, or you may choose to do both!

  1. Download the 1-Minute Maths app and ask your child to play the subitising games. The app is totally free and  it’s available for use on Apple and Android devices. Take a photo of your child playing the game or a screenshot and submit it as an observation.
  2. Choose at least 3 objects from your house and order them from shortest to longest. Take a photo of the items in the correct order and submit it as an observation.

You can also send us any moments that you feel are significant in your child’s learning or want to share with your child’s class teachers.
