Noticeboard
- If your child completes one of the sides of their bookmark, please alert your child’s class teacher.
- Children need to bring their book bag into school every day. If they do not have it on a Monday, they will not be able to have a new reading book.
- We would like you to support your child to hold their pencil correctly when they are using them at home. Children should be using a tripod grip. Click here to see a BBC Bitesize video about how to hold a pencil.
- Please do not allow your child to play with the resources that are on the Reception patio in the morning. These have been carefully positioned and are there to support your child’s learning during the school day.

Tapestry – Observation request
The focus this week is: Literacy
This week we went to Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm. Talk to your child to talk about what they enjoyed about our trip or what animals they may have found interesting and encourage them to write about it e.g. I liked going to see the elephants and watching them eat with their trunks or I liked seeing the bears sunbathing in the sun.

We will be remembering all that we have learned about being a good friend.
Communication and Language
This week, the children will be acting out the story of Jack and the Beanstalk.
Word of the week: documenting (e.g. documenting a science experement)
Physical Development
We will be enjoying a magic bean game and practising sending and receiving different sized balls.
Literacy
This week we will continue our phase 4 phonics, learning about adjacent consonants and how to blend words containing sm, sn sp, st, sw, tr, tw. These are not digraphs. For example, snap, spoon, twig
Common exception words: when, out, what
Writing: This week we will create a class book of wishes, writing about what we would wish for if we had a magic bean.
Maths
This week we will be learning about spatial reasoning. The children will compose and decompose shapes using other shapes.
Understanding the World
We will be continuing to record plant growth, measuring and drawing inside and out, and talking about weather and seasonal changes.
Religion and Worldviews
This week, we will be hearing two stories which tell Buddhists good ways to live – Siddhartha and the Swan and The Monkey King.
Expressive Arts and Design
This week we will continue our music lessons on ‘Minibeast Calypso’, learning to recognise the sound of different instruments.
