Year 2 Learning. Term 1, Week 3

Thank you to all who were able to attend our back to school meetings last week. If you were unable to attend a link to the notes are linked here.

You should have received an email about our school trip payment and permissions at the end of last week. Please let your class teacher know if you have not received this. You can also email class teachers if you are able to help on the trip. Thank you if you already have. Once numbers are confirmed we will let you know if we need you on this occasion by the end of this week.

There is also another INSET day this term, FRIDAY 4TH OCTOBER which was omitted from these dates.

Log in cards for Purple Mash will be being sent home in log books in case you no longer have these. Purple Mash is what we use for our computing lessons in school. However, you are welcome to use the log ins at home also if you wish to explore. There are a variety of games that support the children’s learning across the curriculum.  

Please make sure that all PE kits are back in school and stay on their pegs for the term. Full class PE will start this week.

Monday Connect Say hello to someone in our school that you don’t know.
Tuesday – Take notice Show with an action or a picture how you are feeling.
Wednesday – Be active Purple Stew actions.
Thursday Keep learning Try an activity you haven’t done yet.
Friday Give Nominate someone for a kindness sticker because of something friendly you saw them do.

Session 1 Writing labels for the different parts of a castle on a diagram.
Sessions 2 and 3 After discussions think about aspirations and goals for the academic year. Discuss the vocabulary used when people are making such goals and how they can be made achievable. Make a word bank then use these in sentences to create the goals.
Session 4 Handwriting – Correct orientation and formation of names and numbers

READING

Whole class reading sessions Making predictions when reading. What is going to happen next? What are the clues?
Guided Reading Sessions This week we will be starting our guided reading sessions in class. Children will work in small ability groups to further explore prediction in their shared texts.

Throughout the week : Number Sense Activities to promote fluency and number facts recall.
Session 1 : Partition numbers to 100
Session 2: Write numbers to 100 in words 
Session 3: Flexibly partition numbers to 100
Session 4: Write numbers to 100 in expanded form

Computing Online Safety session
Art Create a scale for a dragon to add to a whole Year group Dragon.
