Reception – Term 2, Week 7

  • Please alert your child’s class teacher if your child finishes one side of their bookmark so that they can receive their first certificate in assembly. You can find information on our reading incentive by clicking here
  • Please make sure your child has a coat in school every day. We will go outside even when it is cold and raining.
  • Children need to bring their book bag into school every day. If they do not have it on a Monday, they will not be able to have a new reading book. Please make sure the reading books come into school each day with your child.
  • Please do not allow your child to play with the resources that are on the Reception patio in the morning. These have been carefully positioned and are there to support your child’s learning during the school day.

Wednesday 18th December – Christmas dinner and parties. Wear party clothes to school. There will only be the option of a roast dinner (veggie, meat, halal and dietary options catered for) – no jacket potato, pasta or wraps. Please provide your child with a packed lunch if they are not going to eat the roast dinner. In the afternoon, we will have our Christmas parties – please remember to bring the party food you’ve signed up for.

Thursday 19th December – Carol service at St Peters Church 2pm. You can collect your child from the classroom as soon as we arrive back at school. You cannot take them from the church.

Friday 20th December – Last day of term – Wear your own clothes and a Christmas Jumper if you have one. Bring in a donation to FHIS.

Inset day on Monday 6th January 2025. Children start back on Tuesday 7th January 2025.

Of course, everyone’s highlight of the week was the nativity performance. We were so proud of the children for their amazing performance on Wednesday. We have noticed the children being very tired, please have a restful weekend as we have one more fun filled week before the Christmas break.

The focus this week is Understanding the World.

Next week, we are having a computing lesson where the children will use iPads to create a picture. Search around your house for different types of technology and send us photos. We will then show these pictures and discuss how technology is used in everyday life.

You can also send us any moments that you feel are significant in your child’s learning or want to share with your child’s class teachers.

For our writing, we will make a list using the phonics skills we have gained so far, as well as providing opportunities to write in our Christmas Post office role play areas.

This week, we are matching numerals and quantities, ordering numbers and recapping number bonds to 5.
