Noticeboard
- This week on Tuesday 11th February is Safer Internet Day. In Reception we will be focusing on which types of technology access the internet (including smart speakers) and think about which trusted adults we can ask for help if we see something we don’t like online. We will also be revisiting our school online safety rules.
- On Friday 14th February 2025, we are taking part in a themed Maths day. We have chosen this day as it will mark reaching 100 on our daily counts. We are asking for your support in enabling your child to come to school with one thing you can find at home that represents 100. Please see email sent for more information.

- Friday 14th February – Non uniform day (last day of term). Donations for FHIS.
- Please alert your child’s class teacher when your child has filled up one side of their bookmark.
- Please find the lunch menu by clicking here.
- Please use the school calendar to find up-coming dates.
- Please make sure your child has a coat in school every day. We will go outside even when it is cold and raining.
- Please do not allow your child to play with the resources that are on the Reception patio in the morning. These have been carefully positioned and are there to support your child’s learning during the school day.
Celebrations
We’ve loved having more visitors come into school to talk to us about their jobs. The children enjoyed hearing from a local vet and doctor. On Wednesday, both classes took part in a maths investigation where they found out who had the longest foot in the class! The children were shocked to find out that it wasn’t the child who is the tallest. They have also loved repurposing ‘rubbish’ to design and make models.

Tapestry observation request
The focus this week is computing. In school we have been looking at technology in the community and considering how it helps us. Could you find some technology in your house and think about how it might help you? For example; a washing machine that helps us keep our clothes clean.
You can also send us any moments that you feel are significant in your child’s learning or want to share with your child’s class teachers. Click the links below to find out how to add observations from different devices.

This week’s learning
Personal, Social and Emotional Development
Children will be taking part in our final lesson on managing self: taking on a new challenge by learning some circus skills. Teachers will support children with their resilience and attitudes to taking on challenges when learning juggling and balancing.
Communication and Language
Our focus text will continue to be Dogger
We always encourage the children to engage in story times and non-fiction books in these ways:
Listen to and talk about stories to build familiarity and understanding.
Ask questions to find out more and to check they understand what is being said.
Articulate their ideas and thoughts in well-formed sentences.
Connect one idea or action to another using a range of connectives.
Describe some events in detail.
Word of the Week: sequence
Physical development
The children will be practising traveling in different ways using equipment such as hoops, ropes and benches.
Literacy
This week in Phonics, we will be revisiting the graphemes/ phonemes: sh, ch, th and ng
And the common exception words: he, she
We will practise blending phonemes to read, and segmenting words to spell them using the phonemes and graphemes we have learned so far.
Writing: We will be using our phonics learning to write a sentence to go with our drawing of a treasure map.
Maths
This week, we will be learning about time. The children will be thinking about tasks that can be done in a given timeframe (e.g. 2 minutes), order events from a story and sequence familiar daily routines. Alongside this, on Friday, the whole school will be celebrating 100 day.
Understanding the World
On Tuesday it is safer internet day, the children will be taking part in different activities that teach and promote how to be safe online.
We will also be learning like historians and using the book Dogger to think about the past and how toys have changed. We will be looking at photos from Henleaze high street as well to compare familiar places with how they used to look in the past.
Expressive arts and Design
We will be continuing with our music topic Handa’s Surprise, we will be learning our song and thinking about how we maintain a plus through movement.
