At Henleaze Infant School, we really value the rich variety of languages spoken by our children and their families. We would love to have some dual-language story times in our classes, and so would like to invite any families who speak a language other than English to come in to read a story to their child’s class. If this is something you might be able to do, please contact your child’s class teacher to arrange a time.

Start using the information gathered about the 6 climate zones to produce a detailed non-chronological report for 1 zone, working in groups.
Research a variety of reports as examples to see how their layout and the language used.
Start with an opening question

Use labelled maps, photographs, drawings and diagrams.
Complete the first 2 sections of the fact file.

Reading

Reading as a class ‘The Street Beneath my Feet’. Looking at vocabulary, retrieval and prosidy. Children will complete various tasks around the use of this text.
Guided Reading groups and some additional 1:1 reading.

Geography Create the backdrop scene of their climate zone using a cardboard box and card. Focus –  land and terrain.
