Year 1 Learning, Term 5 Week 2

Please bring in junk modelling for bridge building over the next few weeks: boxes are great! Please ensure PE kits are back in school. We will be having a maths learn-along next week, see below for details.

On Monday 28th April you are invited to a ‘Maths Learn-along’. This will take place at approximately 9am straight after drop off in the morning similar to we did for phonics (we will just need to take the children in to register them first).

The focus for this has been chosen to be multiplication across the whole school. In Year 1 the introduction of multiplication might look different to what you expect as we introduce the concept as ‘repeated addition’ so that children understand the concept behind multiplication before we mention multiplication and times tables.

Monday 28th April – Year 1 maths learn-a-long – come in and see how we teach the beginnings of multiplication in maths
Friday 2nd May – School Closed – INSET day
Monday 5th April – Bank holiday
Friday 16th May – Year 1 trip to the SS Great Britain.
Saturday 17th May – May Fair

DT: Inspired by the work of Brunel, we are starting to build bridges!
