Year 2 Learning. Term 6, Week 3

Friday 20th June – Sport’s Day – All parents invited to attend. Come to the main sport’s field.
It will start at 9:30am. Gates open from 9:15am.

**Next week we will be going to Trinity School for our singing event on Monday and our Shuffle Up to the Junior School on Thursday. All children will need a packed lunch on both of these days.

Writing
Class Text: ‘The Tin Forest
Story Structure
1. Read to the end of the story. Section off each part using images to support. Ask pupils to orally re-tell, then sequence the pictures and/or sentences .
2. Create a class plan for a new version of the story. Change one element (extend by asking some to have more than one change) e.g. type of forest, character, animal visitor.
Pupils create their own plan (following school/class template) and share with a partner.

Reading and Spelling
Reading Assessments – All children to read individually with class teacher
Spelling Assessments – Spelling the expected words from the end of Key Stage 1 lists

Statistics
Create and interpret tally charts
Create and interpret tables
Create and interpret block diagrams

Music -To sing songs, chants and rhymes from memory with increasing control.
-To sing in unison and sometimes in parts.
-To begin to talk about and understand the texture, timbre and structure of a piece of music.
PE Sport’s Day
SHINE PE To develop returning a ball with hands.
DT Food Tech sessions with Chartwells – Healthy Food Choices and making a healthy Snack. Chartwells are fully aware of all our child’s dietary requirements including intolerances and allergies.
R and WV Follow up to Mosque visit. Complete a class mind map reflection on what they saw at the mosque for Class floor Book
PSHE Economic Well Being – Exploring wants
Transition – Short visit over to the Juniors for Reading Buddy Visit (Juniors came to us last week)
