English

Phonics: revision of Phase 5b graphemes with a focus on spelling

Writing
We will be writing the main events and resolution to our retells of ‘The Goose That Laid the Golden Eggs’ and reading them aloud to the children in Reception (Buttercup and Daisy Class).

Reading
We will be reading individually with all of the children to assess their book band levels.

Maths

We will be working on Addition and Subtraction. Our focus this week will be on:
-Adding by across 10 by adding to the next 10 then adding on the rest of the ones.

-Subtracting a 1 digit number from a multiple of 10 using our number bonds to 10. E.g. 40-7 = 33, because we know 10-7=3.
-Subtracting a 1 digit number from a 2 digit number crossing 10, by exchanging the tens for ones.

Wider Curriculum

Science: ‘Living things and their habitats’: Why do plants and animals need each other? Following on from our work on food chains last week we will be identifying predators and prey within them.

History: Great Fire of London – we will learn where the fire spread to on days 3 & 4.
PE: We will continue our fundamental movement skills unit.
PSHE: We will listen to the story ‘Badger’s Parting Gift’ and consider how holding onto precious memories can help us manage change and loss.
Art: We will begin our ‘drawing’ unit of work. We will explore how you can create a variety of mark making effects depending on the surface you are working on.
Music: We will learn and perform the song ‘Big Boats, Small Boats’.
