Phonics
This week we will be coming to the end of our revision of phase 4 sounds and common exception words. We will be starting phase 5 sounds and common exception words at the start of Term2. Our focus this week will be to continue to read words with contractions. For example didn’t, I’ll.
Writing
This week we will continue to understand what makes a good sentence. Children will start editing and correcting sentences to show their understanding of full stops to mark the end of a sentence. They will also identify nouns and adjectives.
Reading
We will continue reading one to one with children throughout the week and changing books. Please ensure books are brought in daily. Our reading lessons will continue to be based on the book Where the Wild Things are.
Maths
Number fluency
Counting forwards and backwards from any number within 20.
Number recognition within 10 (and 20).
Number formation
Recognise numbers written as words.
To recall 1 more and 1 less within 10
Main learning
Use the +, – and = symbols to form addition and subtraction number sentences.
To identify if a pictorial problem is addition or subtraction.
