It is Anti-Bullying Week in Week 2 (week beginning 10th November). This year’s theme from the Anti-Bullying Alliance is ‘the Power for Good’. If you’d like to know more please go to: https://anti-bullyingalliance.org.uk/anti-bullying-week-2025/anti-bullying-week-2025

On Monday 10th November, we will kick off the week with Odd Socks Day. The children are invited to wear odd socks (with their normal school uniform) on this day to celebrate what make us unique. Throughout the week the children will explore how to use kindness as a superpower to help others and engage in other related activities.

If you have not handed in the homework set for the half term, please bring into school on Monday. 

English

This week we will be continuing our phase 5 learning teaching our new phase 5 sounds oy, ir, ue

Writing
This week we will be learning about conjunctions and writing a letter to ask a superhero for help. 

Reading
We will continue reading one to one with children throughout the week and changing books. Please ensure books are brought in daily.

Maths   

Maths fluency skills:
Ordering numbers to 20 

Recall of number bonds to 10 

No. recognition to 20

Addition and subtraction facts within 10

This week we will be using number lines to do subtraction within 10. Then we will be moving onto our Place Value within 20 unit.  We will learning:

-To recognise numbers to 20

-To recognise numbers 11-20 are made up of ‘ten and a bit’.

-To partition numbers 11-20 into tens and ones and represent them with lines and dots.

Wider Curriculum

Shine PE  We will be continuing with fundamental skills

 Class PE- We will be continuing to develop ball skills 

PSHE – In addition to our Anti-bullying week work, we will be exploring gender stereotypes

History – Looking at what shops were like in the past. 

Geography: This week we will be learning to recognise similarities and differences of geographical features in Britain’s-coasts, beaches, forests, rivers, towns, villages, farms and factories

Music– We will be listening to a variety of musical excerpts and identifying different tempo.

DT –  We will learn about mechanisms and will make a moving picture. 

Science – We will be learning what makes a tree
