KS1 Home Learning – Team 6, Week 7

ELLI Week

Hello Years 1 and 2! We are here, at the end of term; it will certainly be one we will never forget! This is an exciting week for us all as we will meet again in our classes and you will also get the chance to meet your new teachers.

The year has been very different for us all, back in September no one could have known what would happen, but we are all incredibly proud of how you have all risen to the challenges and worked and played so hard this year. We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday (Year 2s) and Thursday (Year 1s). Have a great summer each and everyone of you. Don’t forget some really special thank yous this year too…..your mums and dads, brothers, sisters and whoever else who has supported you on your home learning journeys. We, and all the staff at Henleaze, salute you and thank you for all your support and encouragement that you have given to us and your little learners. We know you will continue keep this up into the next part of their learning journey. Thank you.

Session 2: English/PSHE

Learning Objective: I am ready for the future. I can use ‘can-do’ language.

Be like the ELLI Chameleon. Talk about being positive; we can be ready for the next step in our lives by remembering:

  • Things we are good at;
  • Things we have to help us e.g. people who love us;
  • Having a ‘can-do’ attitude.

Use the template and explain that they need to write some words/ draw picture in each shape, e.g. I have people I trust and who love me, I am a good friend, I can ask for help when I need it. They can think about how each one makes them feel.

Session 3 – Curious cat

You have learnt so many new skills this year both at home and at school. Try applying them to some independent learning.  Start thinking about your own topic that you would like to research over the summer. It could be anything from ‘Lego’ to ‘Changes in Localised Textile Production during the Industrial Revolution’!

See how much you can find out over the next 6 weeks. Become an expert! You could record your findings in a sketchbook, in a folder, or even on a powerpoint.
