Welcome back Reception!
We are so happy and excited to be welcoming everyone back into school.
Thank you all for everything that you have done to support your child’s home learning during this really difficult time. We have been so impressed with all the observations and learning that you have shared with us. We will be sending out the second part of our learning profiles this week so you will have them all in one place along with school observations including those from term 2.
This week our blog will go back to just giving the key points of this week’s learning. If you have to isolate you can access our full plans in the shared folder.
We all enjoyed dressing up for World Book Day last Thursday. Here are some photos of amazing costumes at home and in school.

We will have a Daily Well being activity every morning. These can all be found on the plans in the shared folder.
Communication and Language
Now that we are all back in school and working in a big group our focus this week will again be on developing the communication and language skills that we need to become successful learners: listening to each other carefully, speaking in a group, taking turns in conversation and following instructions.

We will be recapping all the tricky words that we have learnt.
Reading
This week we will be reading with all children 1:1 and ensuring that they are accessing books at the right level to match their skills. We will be giving each child one school book to read at home for the week. WE will let you know later in the week when these need to be returned. These books can then be supplemented with the ActiveLearn online books.
Do not worry if you have already had this book from our online reading scheme over lockdown, Rereading is important in order to become more fluent in readers. This will encourage children to blend words in their head and to be able to re-read sentences after blending.
Please try to read with your child for 10 minutes every day.
Writing
This week we will be writing letters and making cards for a special member of our families.
Mathematics
This week we will continue learning about numbers to 20. We will learn about the numbers 19 and 20 and for the rest of the week will then be recapping all the numbers from 0 – 20 recognising and writing the numerals, ordering, counting and thinking about their composition.
