Year 2 – Term 6, Week 7

Message from Year 2 Team

We all want to say a huge thank you to our wonderful Year 2 families for your support this year. We have loved getting to know you and your lovely children and wish you the best in the future. We can’t wait to see most of the children in their junior uniform in September!

Noticeboard

  • We will continue to aim to get outside as much as possible so they really need a waterproof coat each day.
  • Please return all reading books that belong to Henleaze Infant School to your class teacher before the end of Term 6.
  • Wednesday 21st will be a non-school uniform day.

Week 6 celebrations

We have had such a busy week! Of course, particular highlights of Week 5 have been Sports Day on Wednesday and the Year 2 treat day on Friday, kindly funded by FHIS. Year 2 also enjoyed going to the ‘calm’ spaces with Mrs Brand on Thursday. The children have continued to enjoy learning about journeys and were really intrigued when they were learning about the Windrush generation.

Please see specific class blogs for photographs of these events.

Star of the week

Class 9 – Dunmi

Class 7, 8 and 9 were jointly awarded the class up because they are Classes of the Week!

Week 7

Week 7 is a three day week and the school year will end on Wednesday 21st July. Please see below for learning if you are self isolating.

English:

This week, the children are going to be writing their favourite memories from their time at Henleaze Infant School, as well as doing a writing session focusing on handwriting and spellings.

Maths:

We have lots of fun times tables games for the children to play in pairs, as well as solving a challenge to work out the mystery birds. During this activity, the children will need to compare lengths, use their knowledge of addition and subtraction, use fractions and count in 5s.

Other activities:

The children will make their own ‘All About Me’ sheet to give to their new teacher. They will think about what makes them special, what they like or don’t like and their strengths. They will also make a ‘Welcome to Class 7/8/9’ note to leave in their drawer for the next person to find when they start in Year 2. They will consider what they would have found useful to know when they first started in Year 2, as well as writing a nice, helpful message.
