Week 7 celebrations:

What a lovely, festive final week we had full of fun, laughter and lots of smiles! Our carol singing on Tuesday was just lovely – all the children really enjoyed singing along to Josh on the piano. Our class parties were fab – thank you for your support with providing the food, and Christmas jumper day was super fun too! We even had a very special visit from Father Christmas on Thursday – the children got some amazing class gifts!

Week 1 learning:

Phonics:
The children will spend this week recapping what they already know, becoming more fluent in their reading and application of their Phase 5 phonic knowledge.

Writing:
The children will be introduced to 2 new texts – ‘How to Catch a Star’ and ‘Alfie’s Star’. The children will be focusing on answering and asking questions based around these 2 space-related texts.
If you wish to further support your child’s writing at home you could try some of these activities from Pie Corbett – Click here.

Maths:
The children will continue with the topic we started at the end of Term 2 – statistics. They will create and interpret pictograms and block diagrams.
To help with this at home, you can continue to practise counting in 2s, 5s and 10s with your child!
Here are some fun videos to support this:

KUW:
The children will think back to when we learnt about the Great Alien Bake Off and innovate their very own bake off story!
The children will also be keen geographers – looking at maps and exploring their key features. Can you find and look at any maps at home with your adults? Send your teacher pictures if you manage this!
