Term 3 Week 4

Week 3 celebrations:

The children worked extremely hard on their WOW day recounts this week. They have produced some excellent pieces of writing. Please see a few examples of the children’s super writing below and some missed photos from our WOW DAY last week.

If you are learning from home this week please access the learning here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1_t2uyeGuDJpGlhZM2QTB-sJCxsN3Yir9?usp=sharing

English

Reading:

It is wonderful to see some completed sides of bookmarks this term. This shows your commitment to reading regularly at home and will be celebrated with certificates! Please see below for a reminder of the Read for the Stars incentive.

Read for the Stars – New Reading Incentive

We will continue with guided reading and activities linked to reading skills. We are really interested in sharing examples of information about SPACE. If you come across an article/ information page/ news page that would be of interest and is suitable to be shared with the class -please send it in!

Please can we ask that children’s books and reading records are brought in DAILY. Many thanks for your support with this.

In guided reading we are continuing to focus more on comprehension skills. These are the skills that we apply to show that we have understood what we have read. Your adult can ask you comprehension questions every time you read to them: have a look in the front of your reading records as a reminder.

Phonics:

We continue daily blending revision to help us apply our segmenting and blending skills to unfamiliar words.

Spelling and Grammar (SPAG):

Please see below for our termly plan. Supporting your child with practising the spelling of the weekly Common Exception Words would be really helpful to their learning. If you want to follow any of these SPAG skills up at home, please click on the home learning link to access the weekly resources and plans.

Writing:

In writing this week the children will be learning about two important astronauts – Tim Peake and Mae Jemison. They will then create a fact file on one of these astronauts. Any space-related fact files that you can find and send or bring in would be amazing!

Knowledge and Understanding of the World (Topic)

In science this week we are continuing with our block about Animals, Including Humans. We will be considering how exercise is beneficial for the mind and body by taking part in a range of different exercises and seeing how our body feels afterwards. We will also be exploring food wrappers and looking at how important it is to eat well. We will sort foods into their different food groups and consider whether a meal we ate this week was a healthy one or not.

Religion and World Views

In R + WV we will be continuing to look at miracles Jesus performed and we will be making a booklet about the different stories.

PSHE

In PSHE we will be working in groups to learn a new challenge. We will be asking the question: is it easier to achieve a goal when we are working with a friend?

No stars of the week this week
