Tuesday – Class Photographs

Friday – Learning Shares in classes –  Friday, July 1st
(Class 8 at 9:10am and Classes 7 and 9 at 2:50pm.)

Friday – we will be making our bug houses on Friday so please chat to your child and make sure they have brought everything in for their group to be able to make their house successfully.

Reading:

It is wonderful to see so many children engaged in our Read for the Stars incentive. Certificates have been flying out in celebration assembly and some children are nearly on the last side of their second bookmark! We just wanted to remind all children that the crown prize for achieving this many reads is a very special head teacher’s certificate and a book (which will be given as part of special end of year celebrations). Keep up with all your fantastic efforts.

ADVANCE WARNING

Children have been put in groups to make their bug hotels. We have tasked children with the responsibility of designing and resourcing their bug hotels so please support them by discussing their designs and sending in recycled and natural resources for the start of the week.

  • A reminder of the type of thing we’re looking for: toilet rolls tubes, cardboard, corrugated card shoe-boxes, clean tins, dried natural materials e.g pinecones, sticks, leaves, moss and straw/hay! (If bringing in tins, please make sure they don’t have any sharp edges).

We will always aim to get outside, whatever the weather, as much as possible so children will really need a waterproof coat each day.

English

Spelling and Grammar (SPAG):
Spelling:

We will be practising  our spelling of Common Exception Words this week and seeing if we can spell them correctly in dictated sentences.

Reading:

One to one reading will take priority this week alongside play rehearsing. Please keep writing in your child’s reading journal and marking off their book mark after a daily read. At the end of the year, all children who have completed 2 bookmarks (4 sides) will receive a special headteacher’s award and book of their choice to keep as part of our Read For the Stars incentive.

Writing

This week we are editing our stories and drafting them in best to show you when you come into school for the Learning Share. Will you be able to spot all the writing features we have included to make our writing amazing?

Maths

This week in Maths we will be recapping the skills needed to solve division equations.  We will divide by sharing, divide by grouping, and practise dividing by 2. Remember you can use the free White Rose app at home – 1 minute maths – to practise your maths skills.

Knowledge and Understanding of the World (Topic)

We will continue to practise our play songs this week!

DT

In DT we will begin to design our bug hotel. We will look at examples from around the world and understand why they are important for our environment. Our aim will be to design a purposeful, functional, and appealing product for the bugs.

R + WV

In R+WV this week we will continue to consider places that are special to members of religious communities and learn what it is like inside a mosque.

PSHE

In PSHE we will be learning to recognise how our bodies have changed since we were babies and consider where we are on the continuum from young to old.
