This week we will be starting to learn about money in maths. You can support your child with this learning, by ensuring that they have the opportunity to handle these coins at home so that they are able to easily recognise all coins.

Writing
We will use our story mountain plans to write our stories that are set in Brazil.
Reading
We will be continuing to read our new class text – Paddington.
We will answer retrieval questions by following these steps:
- Read the question carefully;
- Highlight the key words in the question;
- Find these key words in the text;
- Read the text around these words
- Find the answer.
You could support your child with their reading comprehension by asking them retrieval questions and supporting them to follow these steps to find the answer.
Maths
In maths, we are moving onto our unit ‘Money’.
You can support your child with this learning, by ensuring that they have opportunity to handle these coins at home so that they are able to easily recognise all coins.
We will be counting coins by linking their values with our tens and ones knowledge.
We will also be recognising pound coins and notes and totalling amounts involving these.
We will total mixed coins and notes by first totalling the pounds and then the pence.
Wider Curriculum
Science: ‘Animals including humans’: How do we change as we mature?
PE: Dance
Music: We will be learning the difference between beat and rhythm. We will practise and perform three rhythmic ostinato patterns (small repeating rhythmic patterns) simultaneously.
PSHE: We will begin our new topic of ‘Health and Wellbeing’. Our lesson will focus on experiencing different emotions.
DT: We will be planning a healthy balance recipe for a wrap. We will choose our ingredienets to ensure we have covered all food groups that we learnt about last week.
Computing – Coding – We will be learning how to write collision detection events in our code to make something happen when 2 objects collide.
