Year 2 News – Term 1 Week 8

Wow! What a busy term we have had in Year 2! The children have worked so hard getting to grips with our expectations and we are so impressed with how well they have settled in. We are also SUPER impressed with how much they have learnt.

The children have had lots of opportunities to demonstrate their knowledge of calculation and reasoning this week and we have really enjoyed seeing what they can do! We look forward to sharing children’s understanding and their next steps for learning in our Parents’ Evenings in November.

We have enjoyed our reading challenge this week and have loved having an in-depth look at a favourite book from home.

Some book challenges from Class 7.

We completed a number of challenges, including a book review, finding verbs and adjectives, imagining if a character came to school for the day, designing book covers and story mapping. It as great to see the children applying their ELLI Learning skills for this independent work.

We have finished our block of English work by writing a fantastic story about the dragon on its new island. We prepared our ideas last week and spent this week working through the sections of the story. We have been wowed with the fantastic imaginative writing and with the incredible descriptive language. The hard work on handwriting and punctuation is really paying off too!

We have had so much fun performing and composing in music this term. This week, all of Year 2 came together for a group performance and to share the class compositions. The children were so confident with their performances, as well as being a very respectful audience for each other.

Performing Together

Tomorrow we will be sharing the homework from this term. Well done to everyone who has brought something in. We are pleased to see so much fantastic learning happening at home!

Some homework ready for tomorrow

Thank you everyone for a brilliant term. We hope you have an enjoyable and restful break. We look forward to seeing you back on Tuesday 5th November.
