Home learning Week 3, Term 3

Please click here to find all of the printables you may need for this week’s learning here if you prefer to see them in one place.

You can also print out a copy of the blog here.

There are also links to specific powerpoints, videos and resources as you go through the blog. Again the timetable is there to act as ‘quick links’ feature to find resources quickly. If you didn’t have chance to read through our letter explaining the format of the blog or if there are bits that you wanted to refresh please click here

Hello Year 1!

It was so great to see so many of your smiles last week, both at school and in your homes on your Google Class Meets. We know not everyone was able to join in last week due to technical or logging in issues but we hope that we can support you ready for our meetings next week. Below you will find the tasks we would like you to complete at home. It is really important that you do your best to complete the tasks; you have all made such a brilliant start to Year 1 so we need to try and keep it up!

You will continue to receive an email with a YouTube message from your child’s class teacher outlining the learning for each week on a Monday morning.

This week again, we are asking for you to submit some of the core learning tasks via Google Classroom. Again, please contact your class teacher if you had difficulties uploading photos of work. We have loved seeing your work and giving you some feedback. You can see which tasks these are on the suggested timetable (below) and you can find more details about these further on in the blog. Please note, we will reply to you as soon as we can but we are also teaching in school therefore there will be some delays.

Class 4 – class4@henleaze-inf.bristol.sch.uk

Class 5 – class5@henleaze-inf.bristol.sch.uk

Class 6 – class6@henleaze-inf.bristol.sch.uk

Remember, the timetable is to give you a suggested structure, however you are obviously free to adapt it to suit you.

Please continue to make reading with and to your child a big focus. Reading for 10 – 15 minutes a day continues to be so  important.

If you have a place in school but now are isolating and this is your first time using our blog, look back at our previous learning post as there is more guidance on using the home learning there.

Session 2 Main Maths Session
Learning Objectives:

-To be able to partition larger numbers (within 50) into tens and ones
Input:
Video input– again focusing on tens and ones but using part part whole diagrams this time. Original powerpoint is available here if you want to work at your own pace.
Activity:
Main sheet – partitioning into tens and ones using a part part whole diagram. The part part whole diagrams on this sheet are moving away from using physical objects/visual representations to partition the numbers into tens and ones. However if your child needs a bit of help to understand this then please use the line and dot method or other physical resources such as straw bundles alongside it to help your child understand.
Reduced Challenge sheet – this sheet uses numbers to 50 to partition into tens and ones, but it uses cubes to represent it in a more visual way.
Extra Challenge:
Encourage your child to write a number sentence to go with the part part whole diagrams on their sheet (splitting into tens and ones such as 30 + 4 = 34, as shown in the input video)
Extension activity – the focus of these type of questions isn’t on the answer but more on encouraging the children to explain their reasoning rather than just giving a one word answer, in school we would encourage the children to ‘convince me’!

Session 3: Please choose something from the wider curriculum section at the end of the blog

Daily Readingplease use Bug Club and other books you may have for daily reading. It is so so important!
