- You will find below a grid showing the sessions to be taught each week. They do not exactly follow days as each class has different sessions due to support and PE times being different but it allows you to see the week as a snapshot of sessions.
We will always aim to get outside, whatever the weather, as much as possible so children will really need a waterproof coat each day.

We will be carrying out mid-year assessments of the children’s phonic progress, using the phonemes taught so far.
Session 1 : Re-cap story of Chinese New Year – How the animals were chosen to represent each year. Write about the main parts and follow up from our work last week.
Session 2: Create an animal by combining different animals together. Give it a name and adjectives.
Session 3: Write a description of your newly created animal.
Session 4: Handwriting
Reading:
- Read as part of a group. Look at front cover details and explore making predictions, using phonetic knowledge to decode unknown words and to extend vocabulary. Read aloud and look at increasing fluency and use discussion as a group to discuss comprehension and start to answer written questions.
- In reading groups, continue to continue on phonic and CEW recognition gaps identified.

R+WV The Bible – we will be carrying on our theme of ‘special stories’ and will finding out about why the Bible is important to Christians,
Art – Black and White Art We are going to be learning about the artist Bridget Riley who created artwork that were optical illusions, often using just black and white. We discuss how the artwork is 2D but the optical illusion can make it look 3D. Children will be invited to say what they like about the pieces before having a go at creating their own using a medium of their choice from pencils, chalks or crayons.
Geography We will add the the 4 capital cities of each country in the UK to our maps as well as adding other interesting facts about the UK and where Bristol is to our maps on our classroom displays.
