Term 4 Week 5

Just wanted to remind you that we are taking part in Sustrans Big Walk and Wheel 2023 the UK’s largest inter-school cycling, walking, wheeling and scooting challenge. The challenge runs from 20-31 March.

Please try to travel in an active way to school each day. There is a chance to win some great prizes for our school as part of this too! Thank you so much for your support with this.

This week the children will edit their diary entries from last week and begin to plan a non-chronological report about an animal of their choice.

If you want to support the children’s learning at home you could practice using Google alongside them to research animal facts.

Maths

This week we will be focusing on telling the time. We will recap key concepts from Year 1 such as telling the time to the hour, half past the hour, quarter past and quarter to the hour. We will also learn how to tell the time to the nearest 5 minutes and apply this knowledge to word problems to work out how much duration has passed between given times.

Knowledge and Understanding of the World (Topic)

In Science we will use our knowledge of habitats, biomes and living things to answer the question: What would a planet need to look like for a hedgehog to survive? In ELLI time we will be using our paper mache skills to create our own Earths.

PSHE

In PSHE this week we will be thinking about which foods are healthy. We will be talking about vitamins and how they are good for us. We will then be making healthy fruit skewers and practicing the safe use of kitchen utensils.

R+WV

In R+WV this week we will be thinking about why Easter is so important to Christians. Here are some of the questions we will be thinking about:

What do Christians believe about why Jesus died and rose again?

What do Christians believe about being friends with God?

Why is Easter important to Christians?
