Year 2 News – Term 2, Week 3

The children have had so much fun in English this week applying for jobs in a castle. We linked our learning to the History curriculum to find out all about the roles available and how they might differ from jobs today. The children then filled out their application for their chosen role and did some truly fantastic role-playing of job interviews! They all got the job (phew!) and then wowed us with their imaginative and descriptive diary entries for their first day on the job. We particularly loved how some children included other children’s experiences in their own diary.

In Geography, we have continued our learning about rain forests. We focused on the layers of the forest and learnt about the types of wildlife found in these habitats.

The children enjoyed making some very special art work in RE this week. We learnt about the art used to decorate mosques and how the circular patterns encourage spiritual thinking. The children made their own templates of different shapes and used tessellation to create beautiful patterns.
