Diary Dates

Road Safety Week – Tuesday 21st November – A special visitor will join us for our assembly today and then will treat us to a special workshop for each class on keeping safe by our roads.
Tuesday 21st November- 6pm – Online Safety Evening in the Junior School hall. Although this event will take place at the Juniors it has been organised by both schools and so is aimed at both age groups.

Christmas dates

Henleaze Christmas Fayre – Wednesday 6th December – This will be after school where members of the school Choir will perform to open the event. More details to follow via email to the choir members.
Henleaze Infants Christmas Carol Service – Thursday 7th December – St Peter’s Church – 2pm – All Welcome Please email class emails if you are able to help walk us to the church and back.

Wednesday 13th December – Christmas Dinner

English

Phonics
Focus GPCs: ew  (few)   oe   /zh/
CEW to read and spell: come, were, there, one, little, when
Sounds and Keyword books- children will write in these sounds and keywords – Differentiated where necessary. Please use the books for the children to practice in. 

Writing
This week we will continue our writing work based around our class text ‘Send for a Superhero’ and will be mapping the story and writing a retell of ‘Send for a Superhero’. 

Handwriting: Correct formation of the graphemes and CEW for spelling listed above through the use of our 4 formation families. 

Maths

Mental maths fluency:

  • Recall of addition facts within 10
  • Recall of 1 more and 1 less within 20
  • Recognise and write numbers to 20

Main

We will be strating the week focusing on 1 more and 1 less within 20 and using the ‘line and dot’ to show our working for this

We will then move onto introducing number lines. We will use number lines to:
-complete missing numbers
-estimate where numbers belong on them
-add numbers together by ‘counting on’.

Wider Curriculum

SHINE Outside Session – Team Games

Real Dance- Develop circle moves and use them to create different ways of travelling between shapes.

R+WV- Exploring the nativity story and how Christmas is celebrated around the world. 

Geography– To use aerial images to recognise landmarks and basic physical features following our walk around Henleaze. 

PSHE – Thinking about how we can make new friends- following on from Friendship Week.

Art- To create ‘Superhero’ pop art using bright, bold colours. 

Computing – We will also create super hero art using a program on Purple Mash and compare the different effects

DT- Working in a year group team to create a model of Henleaze High Street.
