Year 2 Learning, Week 3 Term 3

Message: Next week in PSHE we will be doing a science experiment using egg shells. Egg shells have similar properties to teeth. We will place the egg shells in a range of liquids to see how they react to sugary, fizzy drinks. If you have any used, clean egg shells, please send them into class on Monday morning. We will only need 3-5 per class.

Verb – A doing word to describe an action that you do with your body or inside your head.

We will begin reading a new class text – ‘Coming to England’.

We will learn about the Windrush generation.
We will use prediction skills to try and predict what will happen next in the story.
We will learn about Trinidad (where the main character is from).
We will retrieve synonyms from the book.

Maths

In maths, we will be learning about multiplication.

We will be revisiting the concept of ‘repeated addition’ taught in Year 1 and linking this with writing as multiplication question.

We will use different language to describe multiplication problems, including ‘lots of’, ‘groups of’ and ‘multiplied by’.
