This week is National Storytelling Week so we have read some more of our favourite stories to share with you. Click on the links below:
Greta and the Giants   Read by Mrs Gibson
The Koala Who Could  Read by Mrs Brand
Jack and the Flum flum tree Read by Miss Ross
On Sudden Hill  Read by Miss Winchester
Tortoise’s Dreams Read by Miss Frost
Tyrannosaurus Drip Read by Miss Eskell

Thank you once again for some more fantastic work. It was so cool to see your wonderful houses for the little pigs and how you tested them! Thank you also to those who sent in pictures of their Kandinsky pictures. You were very proud of them. Remember to keep all of these safe and bring them in when we come back to school. This week will be the last week of our regular sessions and timetable for the term. Next week, the last week of term will look a little different. We will be having a whole school enrichment week all based around Chinese New Year with lots of different activities planned. All the children from Reception to Year 2 will be working on some of the same things.

Remember, the timetable is to give you a suggested structure, however you are obviously free to adapt it to suit you.

Please continue to make reading with and to your child a big focus. Reading for 10 – 15 minutes a day continues to be so  important.

If you have a place in school but are isolating or have moved to part time and this is your first time using our blog, look back at our week 2 learning post as there is more guidance on using the home learning there.

Art

Create a picture that shows a hot place
In the first week of lockdown schooling we made pictures using colours to show cold countries. In this session we would like you to think of the opposite, hot countries. What colours do you think would help to show this. Like last time, you could use anything you like, paint, pencils or collage. Before you make a choice, watch this video. It might give you some inspiration…
Tingatinga Video You may want to create your own picture on this theme. Think of the different animals you could use in your picture. Here are some more pictures and information about the artist to look at in a powerpoint.

Science

Recycling and the Environment

Please submit this piece to Google Classroom📸

Learning Objectives:
– To use knowledge of materials and properties for sorting.
-To make links between actions and problems to the environment.
Input: Watch the BBC Bitesize clip all about Recycling and the environment. When we recycle it’s really important to know the different materials that things are made of. They have to be sorted and put into the correct boxes or bags. Have you ever helped to sort your recycling out at home? Maybe you could ask next time. It is also important to think about the properties of materials too. Glass could break, metal cans could be sharp and paper and cardboard are not waterproof. Not all of our rubbish is recyclable. What happens to this? Watch the videoed powerpoint to find out more.
Activity: Make a poster. It could be about how to recycle, a message about saving our environment and the animals. Be creative unicorns. Here are some examples below.
Video – Listen to a story written about Greta Thunburg
