  • During week 5 we will be filming our production of ‘The Litter Muncher’ that we will then send you details of how you can watch. During this week we will need your children to wear their own clothes as citizens of Lazy Daisy Village! We will send more information nearer the time.

  • We will continue to aim to get outside as much as possible so they really need a waterproof coat each day.

Daily Well Being Activities

Monday – Connect –To your partner, or as a class: describe something without naming it. (eg  it has 2 wheels and a saddle…) 
Tuesday – Take notice – How could you help these worry monsters feel better?
Wednesday – Be active – Favourite character fitness
Thursday – Try something new – Watch ‘The Most Magnificent Thing’ story. What did the girl do when things didn’t go to plan?
Friday – Give – Print a list of children’s names in your class, cut each one out and fold in 2. Each child takes a folded piece of paper and tries to do or say something kind to that person, without telling them they got their name. At the end of the day, see if anyone has noticed who was kind to them

Phonics /Spelling/ Daily Revision of Phase 5a and introduction of Phase 5b Phonics:
Teach Phase 5b – alternative pronunciations   u (but, unicorn)     ow  (cow, blow)    ie  (tie, field)      ea  (eat, bread)

Look at Compound Words.
Additional Phonics:
Phase 5a revision Flash cards, BLENDING and SEGMENTING every day. Precision teaching where required for individuals.
Spelling: Words using phonics from above, compound words:
Something, playground, bedroom
And… Key Words: Seven, eight, eleven, twelve, when
Reading Only Key Words: suddenly, narrator, animals
Vocabulary:
 word, finger space, sentence, punctuation, lower case, capital, full stop, adjective, compound

Writing: Composition – Make a Poster and write about Beautiful Bristol
Session 1
Starting Point: Watch the video about Bristol (above)
Using pictures and a class made adjective bank, create a poster to show 4 special things about Bristol.
Session 2
Use the work from yesterday and write sentences about Bristol.
Session 3
Look at powerpoint about Compound words and see if you can find your own compound words. Spell them correctly using phonics already taught.

Reading: Whole Class Focus – Elephants (Non-Fiction)
Includes questions about non-fiction texts and how to complete fact files, use of phonics, phase 5 tricky words.

Individual Reading – Read aloud accurately books that are consistent with developing phonic knowledge and that do not require use of other strategies to work out words.

Guided Reading Groups – Develop their comprehension skills and recording answers to questions about a written text all about Brunel and other Victorian inventors. 

Please also continue to use Pearson books online for additional material. Books will be changed weekly  on specific days for your child.

Maths – Money

Counting in 2s, 5s and 10s (using those coins). Totalling a given amount of coins.

Learning Objectives:
To recognise coins and know their value
To use p to represent pence.
To count 2p, 5p and 10p coins efficiently by counting in 2s, 5s and 10s
To arrange coins to count efficiently a given amount of coins by ‘counting on’.

PE- Real Dance Unit 1 Lesson 1
LO: I can perform a single skill and movement with some control and repeatability.
I can perform a small range of skills and link two movements together.

Science-Scientific Investigation – Growing seeds in different conditions
LO: I can plant a seed.
I can write about my investigation and record results
I can say a question we could ask about plants.
I can tell a way we could use our equipment to find out the answer. 
Using the powerpoint Planting seeds, this week we are learning that plants are living things and do the same things as animals (grow, reproduce, eat, drink, breath). We are thinking about the factors that seeds and plants need in order to grow and will be conducting an investigation to find out. Complete the investigation worksheet.

PSHE-  Healthy Me Road Safety
LO: I know how to keep safe when crossing the road, and about people who can help me to stay safe.
I recognise when I feel frightened and know who to ask for help
General discussion about places where we feel safe and what we can do, who we can go do when we don’t feel safe. Cover the 6 steps to road safety. 

RE-  Experiencing the world around us using our senses and explaining how we feel about it
LO: Explore how we come to know and understand the world around us 
Show they know that we understand more about the world by using our senses and abilities to think and imagine 
Talk about what they find interesting or puzzling.

Using the presentation and a series of activities such as the feely bag and smell pots, show the children how our 5 senses help us to make sense of and understand the world around us. Link our senses to how they can affect our feelings and emotions, record this on speech bubbles.
