English

In writing this week, we are continuing to retell the story ‘Lila and the Secret of Rain’ (You can watch a video of the story here.) We will then focus on editing the work to correct spellings and punctuation as well as consider more interesting word choices. We are continuing to ask children to present their work neatly and join their handwriting. The children will also be making a card to take home for Fathers Day.

Spelling:

This term we will be revising the CEWs we started learning last term to ensure that children are secure in reading and spelling them. You can support your child at home this term by regularly revising these.

Reading

Maths

This week in Maths the children will be consolidating their understanding of money. We will be adding coins and notes. The children will be able to make the same amount using different coins, compare different values and to find change.

Here are some examples of fun ways to help your child at home understand money

Knowledge and Understanding of the World (Topic)

Geography

The children will continue their new geography topic about 2 contrasting places. They will compare 2 major cities – one from Brazil and one from England (Bristol and Rio de Janeiro). The children will work together to continue to add some more information to our class displays which are coming along really nicely!

Play

We will start our play rehearsals ready for the big performances on 12th July! If your child has brought home some lines to learn, please help them practise at home.

R + WV

The children will learn about the Muslim place of worship – the Mosque. They will learn about religious rituals carried out when visiting a mosque. They will then create a poster about what Muslims do when they worship in a mosque – ie. remove shoes, wash in a certain way, pray on prayer mats.

PSHE

The children will continue their new PSHE topic of ‘Changing me’. They will think about what happens as we grow up and get older – eg. our bodies get slower, we acquire more knowledge.
