Reception – Term 6, Week 3

Noticeboard

  • SUNCREAM – Please put suncream on your child before they arrive at school. The children play outside at all times of the day. The children will have a chance to top up their suncream independently during the school day if they need to, so please teach them how to put it on themselves.
  • SPORTS DAY – Just a reminder that Sports Day will be taking place in the afternoon of Thursday 22nd June on the junior school field. Please can you ensure that your child has a PE kit (white t-shirt and shorts/ leggings) in school and appropriate sports footwear. They must also have a sun hat and be wearing all-day sun cream. The events will begin at 1:30pm and we will aim to finish at 3:15pm (after the parents race!).
  • If your child completes one of the sides of their bookmark, please alert your child’s class teacher.
  • Children need to bring their book bag into school every day. If they do not have it on a Monday, they will not be able to have a new reading book.
  • We would like you to support your child to hold their pencil correctly when they are using them at home. Children should be using a tripod grip. Click here to see a BBC Bitesize video about how to hold a pencil.
  • Please do not allow your child to play with the resources that are on the Reception patio in the morning. These have been carefully positioned and are there to support your child’s learning during the school day.

Celebrations

This week, the children have loved playing outside and using the water in their play. They have been learning mathematical concepts, exploring the properties of water and learning to make sense of their world, as well as using it to keep cool. Alongside this, the children have enjoyed using water colours to paint pictures of minibeasts. We have been very impressed with their observational skills.
