Here are some other important dates for your diary (please read as they have been edited since last week):

Thursday 22nd June – Sports day 1:30 pm – 3:15pm – parents invited

It will take place on the junior school field. Please can you ensure that your child has a PE kit (white t-shirt and shorts/ leggings) in school and appropriate sports footwear. They must also have a sun hat and be wearing all-day sun cream. The events will begin at 1:30pm and we will aim to finish at 3:15pm (after the parents race!).

Monday 26th June – Children go to the Junior School for shuffle up morning

Monday 26th June PM-Reading Ranger tea party

Friday 30th June – Learning Shares in classrooms 9:10 – 9:45am

Wednesday 12th July – Year 2 play to parents – 9.30am

Friday 21st July – Last day of school

English 

In writing this week, we are continuing to focus our learning around ‘Lila and the Secret of Rain’ (You can watch a video of the story here.) We will be innovating the story to include a new main character and setting. We are so excited as the retell version that the children have already written have been AMAZING! 

Spelling:

This term we will be revising the CEWs we started learning last term to ensure that children are secure in reading and spelling them. You can support your child at home this term by regularly revising these. 

Reading: please ensure your child’s book bag is in school everyday. At this stage of the year we are regularly assessing children’s individual book levels.

Maths

This week in Maths the children will be recapping their previous learning about shape. The children will complete some fun, engaging activities including a shape huntand open-ended shape challenges.

Play

We will start our play rehearsals ready for the big performances on 12th July! If your child has brought home some lines to learn, please help them practise at home. 

PSHE

The children will continue their new PSHE topic of ‘Changing me’. They will think about what happens as we grow up and get older – eg. our bodies get slower, we acquire more knowledge.

Computing

This week we are going to be looking at coding again. We are going to create a set of codes to make 6 animals/people move at the same/different times.
