Noticeboard

This Week
Wednesday 13th December – Christmas Dinner. There will only be the option of a roast dinner (veggie or meat) – no jacket potato, pasta or wraps. Please provide your child with a packed lunch if they are not going to eat the roast dinner.
Friday – Christmas Party – Last Day of Term.
**Please remember to bring in your food donations you signed up for and where necessary to provide party food for children with allergies. All containers should be named so they can be returned to you.
**Children can wear party clothes, their own clothes and/Christmas jumpers and bring in a donation to FHIS.

Next Term
School starts for children on: Thursday, 4th January 2024
Week 2, Friday, 12th January, 9am – Parent Information Meeting – Writing – How we and you can support your child with learning to write. This academic year, we as a school are completing a project about improving our writing skills with a concentration on formation and handwriting and spelling. The meeting will start with EYFS and all the way to Year 2 so lots of important information for all parents. There is more information on the back of your child’s calendar that they will be bringing home.

English

Completion of Reading and Phonics Assessments and all children to read in a group or individually. Read the below book as a whole class text…

Writing
Session 1A Christmas Collar’ – Read Story as a whole class together on screen – Write about the missing reindeer and how it could be found.
Session 2 Christmas Rhyming Words. Can you think of any extra ones? Can you put your words into sentences?
Session 3 Handwriting – Christmas Themed and seeing how well we are writing our own names.

Maths

Mental Oral/Warm Up:

Learning Objectives: 
To use my understanding of lines of symmetry to complete 2D shapes by plotting the vertices first and then joining them up.
To sort 2D shapes into groups according to their properties including their size, colour, number of sides and number of vertices.

R+WV Christian symbolism in art – Christmas cards

Computing Continue with Coding unit on Purple Mash. Challenge: To complete some ‘Free Coding’ challenge activities.

SHINE PE Team games utilising the balance skills taught in class PE sessions from the term.

We will also be completing the school countdown to Christmas and Advent in our classrooms.
Sharing food together and playing games, taking turns and excepting winning and losing at games at Christmas parties.
