Noticeboard
Miss Quinn gave birth to a beautiful boy, Tommy Jax McCarthy, just before Christmas on the 22nd. She has promised us a visit towards the end of term (with some special time in Maple Class. We all offer her and her partner our congratulations. A very special Christmas present!
Week 2
Friday, 12th January, 9am – Parent Information Meeting – Writing – How we and you can support your child with learning to write. This academic year, we as a school are completing a project about improving our writing skills with a concentration on formation and handwriting and spelling. The meeting will start with EYFS and all the way to Year 2 so lots of important information for all parents. There is more information on the back of your child’s calendar that they will be bringing home.
Well Being Activities
Thursday – Keep Learning – Choose a challenge Minute to win it Draw or write with the other hand, Make a house of cards, Pick up objects with your feet, Learn a song with actions.
Friday – Give – Bucket filling
English
Read the text ‘Look up” – By Nathan Byron
Play a game of hot seating with one child being Rocket and the class asking questions (seeing how much the class understand the text – to help with diary writing next week)
Answer comprehension questions about the text, verbally and record.
Writing/PSHE
Write about your goals for this coming year and the success you hope to achieve in school and out.
Handwriting Session – Practicing joining letters using Year 2 CEW.

Wider Curriculum
DT – With a partner create a plasticine models of the Earth. When complete cut them in half to see the inside of our planet’s core. Each person can then take a half home.
Science – Animals and their off spring.
