We had a very busy and exciting week last week with our Cultural Enrichment Week! Thank you so much to those that supported in various ways throughout the week to help make it extra sepcial.

Please click here to respond with your feedback on last week’s “Celebration of Culture and Belonging” Enrichment Week.

Thank you to all who made it to our after school food event last week, it had a really lovely community feel and we were so lucky that the weather shone too!

Wednesday 15th May – Governor day. We will be welcoming governors into our school for governors to see a snapshot of our school in action, to soak up the ethos and see some curriculum subjects in action. Governors will be in the playground between 3:15 and 3:30 to speak to parents, so please do approach them and talk to them.
Friday 17th May – Year 1 trip to the SS Great Britain. Please send a packed lunch as well as wearing sensible shoes and checking the weather forecast – suncream will likely need to be applied before school please.
May Fair -Saturday 18th May – Gates open at 2pm
Maypole Dancing on Infant playground – 2:30pm – Meet in Sunflower room 2:10pm
Choir Performance – On front of school steps – 3pm – Meet in Sunflower room 2:40pm
(Maypole dancers will join the choir if they are in both as soon as the dancing is over)

Each class is collecting ‘Jolly Jars’ for this event also. There are posters on the class windows. Fill empty jam jars with small goodies that can then be won by children on a stall. There is a small prize for the class in the school that collects the most! Bring them into class as soon as they are completed.

This week we will be basing our writing around Bristol. We will creating posters and will be writing about all of the things we love about Bristol and why!
We will also be writing up our science experiments.

This week we will focusing on doubling and liknking this back to the repeated addition we were doing a couple of weeks ago. E.g. double 9 is 18 and 9+9=18.

We will then be moving onto halving and quartering of shapes and objects. In order to be halved and quartered the shape must be split into 2 or 4 equal parts.

Science– write up our findings from our experiment about what plants need to grow.
R+WV– Big bang and evolution theory of the beginning of the world.
PSHE– what makes me special?
PE– Throwing and catching lesson 4
Music– To understand the difference between rhythm and pulse.
History– How did Brunel impacted and changed transport?

Stars of the week 🌟
