Subject specific information:

English

Writing:

Our writing this week will be linked to our enrichment week. The children will read and write about Belle & Sebastien. We can’t wait to show you what we got up to on our blog at the end of the week.

Reading:

As we continue our countdown to the end of term, our reading activities will continue to have a more festive theme.

Phonics:

This week we are revising the sounds we have covered so far in Year 2.

As part of our daily recall, children are reading common exception words. Whilst most children are confident at reading them, we really want this to be evident in spelling when writing. Please support your child with spelling the following words correctly when they are doing any writing at home.

Maths

In maths this week we will continue our work on multiplication and division. Our lesson objectives for the week are:

  •  Doubling and halving
  • Odd and even numbers
  • The 10 times table
  • The 5 times tables (EMW)

If you want to support your child with their learning you can visit https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zqbg87h together.

Knowledge and Understanding of the World (Topic)

KUW this week will be centred around ‘Belle and Sebastien’. The children will engage in some enrichment activities, learning about the Alps (where the play is set), creating factual posters about Alpine animals and creating some beautiful alpine collage art.
