Year 2 – T5 W4 Cultural Enrichment Week

There has been a school email sent to inform you that this Thursday will be a non-uniform day.
This is an opportunity for children to wear special cultural clothes, dress up in the colours of one of the flags they have drawn on their ‘bag of belonging’ handprint, or dress in home clothes to represent themselves.
**PLEASE NOTE: We will also be cooking on this day. Children will wear aprons but there is a risk that children may get their clothes dirty. Please bear this in mind and send in a change of clothes (and let you class teacher know this) if your child is wearing something particularly special.

May Fair 2024 – Saturday 18th May
Maypole Dancing – 2:30pm
Infant School choir – 3:00pm
We will send more information out at the beginning of next week about the logistics and what to wear and meet.

Each class is also now starting to collect ‘Jolly Jars’ for this event also. There are posters on the class windows. Fill empty jam jars with small goodies that can then be won by children on a stall. There is a small prize for the class in the school that collects the most! Bring them into class as soon as they are completed.

My Bag of Belonging– If your child was not in school last week, we can give them one on Tuesday and will make sure their sharing time is kept to the end of the week.
For those in school last Thursday we sent home a paper bag containing the following…
1.A blank handshape. Please colour the blank handshape with a flag or flags of the countries represented in your family.
2. Please also bring your bag back to school on Tuesday 7th May with a few objects or pictures which are special to you, to talk about in class. The children will bring their bags home at the end of the week but we will keep the hands to make into bunting in school.

Finally, to enhance the children’s experience we are asking for any parents which speak another language to come and read to your child’s class with a story you enjoy at home. If you would like to volunteer for this, please email your child’s class email to arrange a time and date.

Thank you in advance for your support in making this week special and memorable for the children.
