Year 1 Learning, Term 5 Week 4

This week we have a cultural enrichment week. Where possible classes will be exploring music, art and stories and more linking to the different cultures represented within their class. If you have any song recommendations or stories that you could send in or email to your class teacher it would be lovely to celebrate cultural songs/stories that are special to the families in our classes.

Tuesday 7th May – please return the children’s ‘Bags of belonging’ which should have come home with them last week.
Thursday 9th May will be a special non-uniform day, when children are invited to wear the colours of their nationality flag, or to come in cultural dress.
Thursday 9th May – After school cultural food event (see poster below)
Friday 17th May – Year 1 trip to the SS Great Britain
Saturday 18th May – Mayfair

This week is our enrichment week where the children will have a wonderful variety of activities! We will be celebrating our differences, and also our belonging – to our families and to our school.

On Tuesday, we are fortunate to have language teachers from Redmaids’ High School coming in to teach the children some Spanish vocabulary! Throughout the week, we will be hearing stories from other cultures and in different languages, exploring art and music from different countries. On Wednesday, we have a dance workshop being led by Movema who specialise in celebrating diversity through dance.

If you are able to offer samples of your family’s special food, please contact Mary Brand or Ella Grant on the Buttercup class email: Buttercup@henleaze-inf.bristol.sch.uk
