Noticeboard

  • Our Reception Christmas play will be on Wednesday 6th December 2023 at 9:30am.
  • Please make sure your child has a coat in school every day. We will go outside even when it is cold and raining.
  • Children need to bring their book bag into school every day. If they do not have it on a Monday, they will not be able to have a new reading book. Please make sure the reading books come into school each day with your child.
  • Your child will have come home with a Read for the Stars bookmark. You can find information on our reading incentive by clicking here
  • Please do not allow your child to play with the resources that are on the Reception patio in the morning. These have been carefully positioned and are there to support your child’s learning during the school day.

Celebrations

The children loved taking part in the Welly Walk this week. We explored all the different signs of the seasons changing and the children collected different pieces of data to investigate. Some of the photos below the children took themselves on the school ipads and once back inside the classrooms we projected them onto our classroom screens to discuss their observations. We also collected items such as leaves, conkers and shells, twigs and fallen flowers which we will be using to create autumn pictures.

This week’s learning

This week, we will continue to learn about the ELLI Unicorn. The Unicorn can be imaginative and come up with creative solutions. We will continue using the story ‘Sugarlump and the Unicorn’ as our key text.

We will be discussing what it means to be responsible. We will each take responsibility for a classroom object, keeping it safe and seeing how we each manage with this task.

As well as continuing sharing the All About me box, we will talk with the children about who helps us to make good choices and create a list together (teachers, parents, carers, police, doctor, vicar, imam, rabbi …etc.)

Expressive Arts and Design

We will be using the natural materials found on our welly walks to make an autumn picture inspired by different artists such as Vincent Van Gough, Yokoyama Taikan, Claude Monet, Kaii Higashiyam, Kim N. Britov.
