•Next Week Year 1 Egg Rolling Competition (see above) There will be prizes for best decorated and the egg that rolls the farthest from each class.
•We will be continuing with putting our Year1 production together during the first weeks of Term 5. We have made a really good start.

•We will continue to aim to get outside as much as possible so they really need a waterproof coat each day.

The Odd Egg By Emily Gravett

 Writing: Composition – Text: The Odd Egg, By Emily Gravett
Use adjectives to describe their own design of an odd egg! Use the prediction of what might be in the egg to research the different creatures from the story and create an ‘Egg Spotter’s Guide to eggs’.

Reading: Whole ClassFocus – Brenda’s Boring Egg

Includes questions about prediction and plot, use of phonics, phase 5 tricky words.

Individual Reading – Read aloud accurately books that are consistent with developing phonic knowledge and that do not require use of other strategies to work out words.

Extended Challenge – Develop their comprehension skills and recording answers to questions about a written text. Explore inference and discuss as part of a group.

Assessments will continue to be carried out over these final weeks and changes made to book banding accordingly. Please also continue to use Pearson books online for additional material. Books will be changed weekly  on specific days for your child.

Maths – Length

LO:To know that height is a type of length.
To compare length and height using language long(er)(est)/short(er)(est)/tall(er)(est).
To order 3 or more things by length/height.
To use non-standard units to measure length and height.
To understand that the non-standard units they use need to be of equal length (ie. can’t mix the units they use to measure).
To know how to use a ruler to measure length, starting from 0cm.
To understand that a standard unit of measurement is required as non-standard units vary in length and size.

Maths assessments will be carried out to assess your child’s understanding of the units taught over the past 2 terms.

RE- Story of Easter and how it is celebrated differently over the world.
LO: Appreciate  individuals and cultures express their beliefs and values in different forms – here through sacred writings and stories
Discuss what is important to them and others with respect for others’ beliefs and feelings
Provide a good reason for the views they have and the connections they make.
To know why Easter is important to Christians and how it is celebrated in different countries.

Follow the ppt Easter around the world and then complete the activity. Ensure children use because in their answer.

Computing- Animation (x2)
LO:To explore different uses of technology
To use an iPad to take photos.
To ‘Stop Motion’ App to take a sequence of photos to create an animation
To use the ‘capture’, ‘delete’, ‘arrows’ and ‘play’ options to edit their sequence of photos and replay their complete animation..

Children will create background and characters using resources of their choosing to use for their mini animations. They will then use ‘Stop Motion’ app on the iPads with a partner to take a sequence of photos to create a short animation to tell parts of The Little Muncher (our play).
