Noticeboard

  • This Friday is RED NOSE DAY and we are inviting you to dress in something red and bring in a donation.
  • ADVANCED WARNING – Week 6 (Final Week) – Year 1 Egg Rolling Competition. There will be prizes for best decorated and the egg that rolls the farthest from each class. More details will follow next week.
  • Remember to click the link to plans and resources below if your child is needing to self-isolate but is well. Please email the class email address if you find yourself in this position and are unsure.
  • We will continue to aim to get outside as much as possible so they really need a waterproof coat each day.

Tuesday – Take notice – There is no angry way to say BUBBLES! This is a funny way to calm down children who are getting angry. They have to say bubbles, but you can’t say it angrily or usually without smiling.

Friday – Give – Dress up in red and give to Comic Relief

English

Phonics /Spelling/ Daily Revision of Phase 5 Phonics:

Additional Phonics: Phase 5 Flash cards, BLENDING and SEGMENTING every day and individual assessments will begin.

 Writing: Composition – Make up an imaginary animal using 3 parts from existing animals. Write about them including their habitat and diet.

Reading: Whole Class Focus –  Doris the Loris
Includes questions about prediction and plot, use of phonics, phase 5 tricky words.
Individual Reading – Read aloud accurately books that are consistent with developing phonic knowledge and that do not require use of other strategies to work out words.
Extended Challenge – Develop their comprehension skills and recording answers to questions about a written text. Explore inference and discuss as part of a group.

Assessments will continue to be carried out over the coming weeks and changes made to book banding accordingly. Please also continue to use Pearson books online for additional material. Books will be changed weekly  on specific days for your child.

Jasmine Unit 1 Lesson 4

Science-
LO: I understand that an animal’s habitat is where they live.
I can describe an animal’s diet.
Follow the powerpoint Habitat and Diet. Discuss animal diet and look at the vocabulary carnivore, herbivore and omnivore. Move on to learn about habitats, thinking about which animals live there and the food they eat. There is a matching the animal to their habitat game as the main activity. 
Potential extension: Do plants also need animals to survive?

PSHE – 
LO: I know how to make a new friend
I can identify what being a good friend means to me
Ask: why do they get on well? Do they always get on? Do they ever disagree or fallout with each other? What do they enjoy doing together?
Explain to the children that, to have good friends, we need to be a good friend. 
In pairs ask the children to suggest what they could do to be a good friend to this child. 
Sort the cards with qualities that might make a good friend into true/false and then vote on the most important quality or qualities.

Computing/Art/DT
Learning objectives
To explore different uses of technology
To use an iPad to take photos.
To ‘Stop Motion’ App to take a sequence of photos to create an animation
To use the ‘capture’, ‘delete’, ‘arrows’ and ‘play’ options to edit their sequence of photos and replay their complete animation..

Children will create background and characters using resources of their choosing to use for their mini animations. They will then use ‘Stop Motion’ app on the iPads with a partner to take a sequence of photos to create a short animation to tell parts of The Little Muncher (our play).
