English

Spelling and Grammar (SPAG):

This week we will be learning about contractions and how they are used to shorten (usually) two words into one by omitting a letter. For example: Do not -> don’t.

Reading:

One to one reading will take priority this week alongside play rehearsals. Please keep writing in your child’s reading journal and marking off their book mark after a daily read. At the end of the term, all children who have completed 2 bookmarks (4 sides) will receive a special headteacher’s award and book to keep as part of our Read For the Stars incentive.

Please ensure your child’s book bag is in school everyday. At this stage of the year we are regularly assessing children’s individual book levels.

Writing

This week we are editing our stories and drafting them in best to show you when you come into school for the Learning Share. Will you be able to spot all the writing features we have included to make our writing amazing?

Maths

This week in Maths we will be recapping our knowledge of fractions. We will be finding a ¼ and ⅓ of shapes and numbers. Here is a link to help you at home; https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/z3rbg82

Play

We will start our play rehearsals ready for the big performances on 12th July! If your child has brought home some lines to learn, please help them practise at home.

PSHE

The children will continue their new PSHE topic of ‘Changing me’. They will work to recognise the physical differences between boys and girls, use the correct names for parts of the body (penis, testicles, vagina, vulva, anus) and appreciate that some parts of my body are private. They will be able to say what they like/don’t like about being a boy/girl.

R + WV

The children will attend a ‘virtual trip’ to a mosque by watching a video. They will notice what is important to people when they come to the mosque, think about WHY certain things are there, and WHY people do certain things in a mosque and look out for artwork and patterns.
